Pneumococcal Surveillance Serotyping Assay Kit (23 Valent)

The Flow Cytometric Serotyping Kit (FX1000) is a sensitive, high-throughput method for detecting the presence of pneumococcal carriage in nasopharyngeal swabs. Provided in this kit are fluorescent polystyrene beads conjugated with pneumococcal polysaccharide (PnPs). There are 23 beads, each conjugated to a unique PnPs serotype. The Serotyping Kit also provides a proprietary anti-pneumococcal human monoclonal antibody cocktail, and a phycoerythrin conjugated anti-human reporter antibody. This kit comes with a pneumococcal antibody standard and three positive controls. The controls are a prepared pool of pneumococcal polysaccharides.

In this assay, lysates are prepared from NP swabs. The NP swab lysates are mixed with the anti-pneumococcal monoclonal antibody (mAb) cocktail.

In the absence of free pneumococcal polysaccharide from the sample lysate, the mAbs bind to their target polysaccharide (bead). Upon addition of the reporter antibody, the beads with bound monoclonal antibodies exhibit maximum fluorescence.
